Recycle

Did you know that nail polish is considered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be household hazardous waste? As such, it should NOT be thrown into the garbage or poured down a sink. (Learn more about household hazardous waste here.)

You can take your unwanted nail polish to your local household hazardous waste collection facility. Earth911 is a great tool for locating one.

Chemwise, a chemical recycling organization based in Ohio, also conducts nail polish recycling.

Finally, reduce your disposal of nail polish by trading colors with friends and finding alternative uses for it. Check out this nail polish jewelry tutorial and all of this beautiful, incredible nail polish jewelry on Etsy!
